How it all began:
Hey there! I'm Allen Parent, and my journey has taken me from assisting my father and uncle in their construction business 25 years ago to transitioning away from a finance career and now operating a successful boutique woodworking business here in Central Michigan. With a Bachelor's degree in Finance, I fused my passion for building with self-taught carpentry skills learned from my uncle. Crafting rustic furniture became my calling, leading to personal projects and commissions for family and friends. The journey evolved when I shared my work on social media and garnered unexpected interest. Starting in a small carport, I swiftly outgrew my space, eventually finding a larger, dedicated workshop. Today, I now own and operate Rustic Creations Design Co, where we aim to rekindle an appreciation for true craftsmanship in a world saturated with mass-produced mediocrity.
Meet Nick: Lead Craftsman
This is Nick! He began doing woodworking for a living 5 years ago, but has about 15 years of experience. Before diving into the woodworking business, he was in Mobile Event Marketing and managed warehouses. One of his first major projects was a jewelry box he made as a gift for his wife and says that’s when his passion for woodworking grew! His favorite thing about woodworking is how no day is the same as the last and there is always something different with each build that gives the project its own personality. He finds it rewarding to take a pile of wood and turn it into a beautiful, unique piece of furniture. His favorite project that he finds the most fun in building is custom tables! In his down time, he enjoys spending time with his wife of 12 years, and being a dad to his 4 boys who keep him busy 24/7!
Meet Tanner: Craftsman
Tanner, a diligent and focused individual, embarked on his educational journey at Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, where he successfully completed his studies in 2019. It was during his time there that Tanner began to explore his interests and talents beyond the classroom. While working as a window cleaner and a custom hard flooring technician in various homes and businesses, Tanner stumbled upon a hidden passion for woodworking and craftsmanship.As he delved deeper into the world of woodworking, Tanner found himself drawn to the intricate artistry and creativity it demanded. He spent countless hours honing his skills, experimenting with different techniques, and pushing the boundaries of his craftsmanship. With each project he completed, Tanner's confidence grew, and his passion for finishing flourished.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Tanner found fulfillment in various hobbies. An avid sports fan, he could often be found cheering on his favorite Detroit sports teams. In quieter moments, Tanner would find himself in the pages of a good book or learning to play the trumpet.As Tanner's journey in the world of woodworking and craftsmanship continues to unfold, he remains steadfast in his pursuit of excellence. Each project serves as a testament to his unique perspective and creative spirit, shaping him into the skilled artisan he is today.
